Amid the speculation surrounding the uncertain future of both Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi at Crystal Palace, club manager Oliver Glasner has confirmed their participation in the upcoming UEFA Conference League 2025-26 play-off tie on Thursday, August 21. The London-based club are set to take on Fredrikstad from Norway in the first leg of the play-off tie at the Selhurst Park, to put themselves in the best possible position to reach the main draw of the tournament.
Following the demotion of Crystal Palace from UEFA Europa League to the aforementioned competition due to failing the multi-ownership rule, their fans have been quite vocal against the governing body of football in Europe. But now, the club is focused on keeping their European dream intact for the ongoing 2025-26 season, and the involvement of Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi in the playing XI could come in quite handy for them.
You may be surprised they start tomorrow, but they are committed to the team: Oliver Glasner
The recent interview of Oliver Glasner - wherein he talked about how his two key players remain “committed to the team” - comes just after Crystal Palace held talks with Liverpool about a possible £35 million deal for English centre-back Marc Guehi, as reported by BBC Sport. As far as Eberechi Eze goes, there is concrete interest from fellow London-based club Tottenham Hotspur in the English forward, and they want to get the deal done before the transfer deadline of September 1.
“Many of you were surprised he [Eberechi Eze] and Marc [Guehi] started against Chelsea, you may be surprised they start tomorrow, but they are committed to the team,” remarked Oliver Glasner on Wednesday, August 20. The Crystal Palace manager also talked about how they will stay committed to the club until they are with them, wanting to give 100% until their departure.
After drawing their Premier League opener against fellow London-based club Chelsea away from home last weekend, Crystal Palace will welcome Nottingham Forest at Selhurst Park this Sunday, August 24, in their next top-flight clash.
