India’s chances at Tokyo Olympics 2021

Tokyo Olympics is around the corner but the Coronavirus cases among athletes and their support staff members are raising the stress of authorities. In a recent update, organizers of the Olympic Games have confirmed on Tuesday that a foreign athlete has been found positive for COVID-19. According to Kyodo News, eight more members related to the Games have been infected with the virus. The name of the athlete has not been revealed.

Earlier, three athletes in the Olympic Village were found COVID-19 Positive, As per reports, the Tokyo Organizing Committee so far has confirmed 58 Positive cases related to the Games.

Who others have contracted the Coronavirus?

In a big blow, many athletes competing in the mega event have been found positive for COVID-19, including USA tennis star Coco Gaufg. Mexican Baseball Federation and the Mexican Baseball League confirmed that two Mexican players, Hector Velazquez and Sammy Solis, are also found infected with the virus just before they were about to leave for Tokyo. While South African soccer players, Thabiso Monyane and Kamohelo Mahlatsi, were the first players to be found infected inside the Olympic Village, Czech beach Volleyball player, Ondrej Perusic on Monday was the third athlete to be found positive in the Village. The British Olympic association on Sunday informed that six of its athletes, excluding two staff members, have been self-isolated in Japan after coming in close contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case on their way to Tokyo.
