Former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli was held for drunk driving in Mumbai after hitting a passing car at a Bandra society on Sunday. Reportedly, he was taken into custody and investigated at the Bandra police station.

The former Indian cricketer was arrested after a complaint was lodged against him from a resident of Bandra society. The 50-year-old notably also got involved in an argument with the watchman of the complex and residents after hitting the car.

Reports have suggested that he was charged under IPC section r.w. 185 of the Motor Vehicle Act (driving under the influence of alcohol). However, the Indian cricketer was later released on bail.

Vinod Kambli played 17 Tests and scored 1084 runs, including 4 hundreds. He had an impressive ODI career, where he hit 2477 runs in 104 appearances, with two hundreds also under his belt. The batter made his international debut in 1991 and played his last game in October 2000, with his career involving quite a few controversies.

Notably, Kambli became a victim of cyber fraud last year when a fraudster impersonated a private banks executive on phone and fooled Kambli by withdrawing Rs. 1.14 Lakh from his account on the pretext of updating his KYC details. Kambli later lodged a complaint at Bandra Police station. The police had started an investigation and are trying to find out who is the holder of the fraud account.
