A former Indian Premier League and Ranji Trophy player has alleged that he was offered Rs 40 lakh for match-fixing, and a complaint has been filed with Bengaluru Police in this regard. Rajagopal Sathish, a player who has been a part of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as well as the Ranji Trophy has revealed that INR 40 Lakhs were offered to him for fixing matches.

Apart from informing the police, Sathish has also informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) as well as the International Cricket Council (ICC) regarding the matter.

"The player approached us and ICC, and informed us that someone had approached him on Instagram. We took details of the case and told our ACU officer to file a police complaint in the matter. We are just a facilitator and now police will look into the case,” said Khandwawala, the chief of the Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) of the BCCI.

The police complaint alleges that a person called Bunny Anand had approached Sathish on Instagram and had offered to pay INR 40 Lakhs and had also told Sathish that two players had agreed for this offer as well. Sathish reportedly declined it.

“On January 3, a person named Bunny Anand contacted Sathish on Instagram and messaged him luring to pay Rs 40 lakh and told that two players have already agreed to the offer. Sathish said that he said ‘sorry’ to the offer,” the complaint read. A police officer said they suspect that the offer was made to fix matches in TNPL.

Notably, Sathish has played for teams like Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Mumbai Indians (MI) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the past. Sathish has also featured in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL). He has played 34 matches in the IPL and scored 270 runs at an average of 15.88 and a strike rate of 116.88. He last played an IPL game in the year 2016.
