Former New Zealand skipper Daniel Vettori will join the Australian team touring Pakistan for the white-ball series as a spin consultant, confirmed Cricket Australia on Sunday. As per reports, Vettori is set to work with the limited-overs squad in Melbourne this week before they depart for Pakistan. New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori, who was last involved with the Bangladesh cricket team, will help the Australians, who will play three-ODIs and one T20I versus Pakistan.

However, it is not clear if Vettori has joined Australians as a full-timer or for a brief period, but certainly, Vettori's rich experience will help Australian spinners in the series. Vettori's last international assignment was with the Bangladesh team as their spin bowling coach between 2019 and 2021. Daniel Vettori had an illustrious career while playing for New Zealand for more than 20-years. He played 295 ODI matches and picked up 305-wickets at an impressive economy of 4.12. In T20Is, Vettori played 34-matches for his side and picked 38 wickets at an economy of 5.70.

After the first two Tests between Pakistan and Australia ended in a draw, both sides will look to win the 3rd Test starting from March 21 at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore. The three-match ODIs will begin from March 29 at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, whereas a single T20I scheduled between two teams will take place on April 5 on the same ground.

Vettori is regarded as one of the most in-demand coaches in world cricket, due to which several boards keep making attempts to rope him in their coaching staff. Vettori was also involved with the Bangalore franchise in IPL as head coach before he was sacked in 2018, following the team's poor performance in that season. He was also a member of Australia's set-up for a short time before their 2017 tour of India.
