Formula 1 Team Haas has announced that it will enter the next year's World Championship with the same driver line-up, confirming Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin's stay. Notably, the two relatively inexperienced drivers had joined the American outfit from Formula 2 and have battled all season long with an uncompetitive car after the team had decided to focus their resources on building a new challenger for the rules change set to come into effect from the next season.

The team further confirmed that the driver duo - who have had a few clashes on track this season - would be the ones to drive the car into the new era of racing with the new rules.

We wanted continuity behind the wheel: Haas boss

"We knew we wanted continuity behind the wheel in 2022 and I’m happy to confirm exactly that with Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin competing for Uralkali Haas F1 Team next year," commented Haas team boss Guenther Steiner.

"2021 has afforded both drivers the opportunity to learn Formula 1 – and as rookies – they’ve done a lot of that this year. It’s been a tough season for sure with the package we’ve had, but at the same time they’ve both embraced the challenge and worked closely with the team to learn our processes and adapt to the rigors of a Formula 1 campaign and all that brings – both internally and externally," he added.

"Now as we look ahead to the 2022 season, we’re confident we can move forward as a team and give Mick and Nikita a competitive race package to make the next step in their Formula 1 careers," he further said.

Schumacher and Mazepin excited at the prospect

Meanwhile, Schumacher has stated that he is also excited at the prospect of driving a car that will allow him to compete for a few points after a tough introductory year in F1. He also said that being in the Formula 1 circuit itself is a dream come true for him.

Nikita Mazepin also expressed his excitement and said that he is looking forward to growing with the Haas team and hoped for a strong result next season.
