Team India is prepping up for the long tour of England commencing next month. The members of the team, who will board the flight to the United Kingdom early in June, have already assembled in Mumbai to form a bio-secure bubble. However, even inside the bubble zone, there is no time to waste for the elite Indian athletes as they are "getting stronger each day." In a video shared by the BCCI, the Indian cricket players can be seen going through an intense workout session.

Rishabh Pant, Ishant Sharma, Shubman Gill, Umesh Yadav, Ajinkya Rahane, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Mayank Agarwal and others were seen sweating it out prior to the tour which will see India take on New Zealand in the ICC World Test Championship final followed by five-Test matches against England.

Notably, the players featuring in the video are all part of India's 20-member squad set to travel to England in which KL Rahul and Wriddhiman Saha are subject to fitness clearance. A separate India squad full of limited-overs specialists will travel to Sri Lanka in July for a white-ball tour. Local players from Mumbai including skipper Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are quarantining separately since they reported late and will be joining the rest of the squad after completing their mandatory isolation.

IPL 2021 likely to resume in September

Meanwhile, multiple media reports are claiming that the IPL 2021 is expected to restart around September 16-20 and finish on October 9-10. There will roughly be a week’s gap between the IPL final and the start of the upcoming T20 World Cup which currently is dated to begin on October 18.
