Australian star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has become the most expensive player in IPL 2021 Auction so far. The 32-year-old has been bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore for INR 14.5 Crore. After being released by Punjab Kings, he certainly stole the limelight in the first half of the IPL 2021 Auction.

Intense bidding-war for Maxwell

Maxwell, who registered himself at the base price of INR 2 Crore, was definitely one of the hot-targets for various franchises during the Auction. Kolkata Knight Riders opened the bidding for the Australian all-rounder and were joined by Royal Challengers Bangalore. As KKR stepped out, Chennai Super Kings joined the battle to sign Maxwell. Eventually, after an intense bidding-war between RCB and CSK, Glenn Maxwell was sold to Royal Challengers Bangalore for a humungous amount of INR 14.5 crore.

Maxwell’s form in IPL

Glenn Maxwell is a seasoned IPL campaigner and has been part of the tournament since 2012. He has played 82 matches in IPL and has scored 1505 runs at a strike rate of 154.67. The Aussie cricketer also has 19 wickets to his name. Maxwell could certainly provide a major firepower to the RCB side who already have the star duo of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers.
