Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell tied the knot with his Indian-origin girlfriend Vini Raman. While Maxwell already shares a great fan following among Indian fans, mainly due to his style of shot-making in the Indian Premier League (IPL), the wedding has added another Indian connection to his life. The "Big Show" will play for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in IPL 2022.

Notably, there has been a lot of talk going on surrounding this marriage ever since the invitation to the wedding in Tamil had gone viral on the internet. However, the couple has finally broken the silence and made the announcement of their wedding through social media.

"Mr and Mrs Maxwell | 18.03.22 ?," Vini captioned a heartwarming picture of her along with with her husband.

Faf du Plessis to lead RCB in IPL 2022

IPL 2022 marks the beginning of a new era in the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) camp with Faf du Plessis taking over the captaincy from Virat Kohli. Notably, Kohli had himself decided to step down at the conclusion of IPL 2021 citing workload management. While a few thought Maxwell could be the right successor to Kohli, the team management has gone ahead with du Plessis.

"The opportunity to be the captain of a franchise like RCB is massive and a role I was glad to accept... I can see that shift of Virat’s captaincy footprint in the Indian team. He built a competitive, fit side that was fighting fire with fire. His strong leadership rubs off on the young players and even if he is not the captain, the energy that he brings along to the team is hugely important for us. So we’ll be looking to try and use that as best as we can," du Plessis said during the 'RCB Unbox' event where the announcement was made.

IPL 2022 is set to commence on March 26 with Bangalore scheduled to play their first match the next day - on March 27 against the Punjab Kings.
