With just a few hours left for the first game of the IPL 2022 season, Chennai Super Kings got an adrenaline shot to their campaign. Their most expensive player at Mega Auction Deepak Chahar has started making progress in his recovery at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. The right-arm quick was seen bowling in the nets.

The Rajasthan pacer is making steep progress and is eyeing a quick recovery. Notably, he had suffered a right quadriceps injury while bowling in a T20I against West Indies last month. In the beginning, he was set to go under the knife but that would have meant him missing the entire IPL 2022 season. With the cricketer refraining to undergo surgery, he was sent to the NCA for recovery.

And now, he has shown good speed in his recovery and recently hit the nets. In a picture uploaded on social media, Chahar wrote “Basics. Baby steps.” With this news coming in, CSK IPL 2022 campaign has got a massive boost as Chahar has been a vital cog in their bowling attack.

We are still waiting for his report from NCA: CSK CEO

While Chahar recovers from his injury, CSK is eagerly waiting for him to join the camp as soon as possible. However, the management has not got anything solid from the NCA which can confirm the return date of Chahar in IPL. CSK CEO has said to InsideSport that they are still waiting for an update from the NCA and BCCI but are not thinking about the pacer's replacement as of now.

“We are still waiting for the BCCI and NCA reports regarding Deepak Chahar’s injury. But at this time we are not thinking of replacement of Deepak Chahar. We expect Deepak Chahar to join CSK soon,” said Kasi Vishwanath. Notably, CSK start their IPL 2022 campaign against KKR in the first match of the season at the Wankhede Stadium. They will be without few of their main players like Chahar and Moeen Ali (still in quarantine).
