Newcomers Gujarat Titans have appointed Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan as their vice-captain for the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League. Gujarat Titans will make their first appearance against another debutant side Lucknow Super Giants, on 28th March at the Wankhede Stadium.
Gujarat Titans made the announcement on social media and shared a video of skipper Hardik Pandya making the announcement to the rest of the squad. “In yet another #SeasonOfFirsts, Rashid Bhai becomes our vice-captain,” the caption of the post read. Hardik was heard saying to his teammates, "And something we had like to announce as well is that Rashid Bhai will be our vice-captain." Then , the whole squad clapped for the Afghanistan spinner after Hardik made the announcement.

Gujarat Titans have assembled a strong side as they picked Shubman Gill and Rashid Khan along with Hardik Pandya as their draft picks ahead of the mega auction. At the IPL 2022 Mega Auction, they made some interesting buys. The franchise has showed faith in some young players like Abhinav Manohar and Yash Dayal. The franchise appointed Ashish Nehra as head coach, Gary Kirsten as batting coach and mentor and Vikram Solanki as director of cricket operations.
