According to the latest reports, fast bowler Harshal Patel is set to miss the Asia Cup 2022. The showpiece event is set to take place from 27 August to 11 September in United Arab Emirates (UAE). Furthermore, the 31-year-old is also doubtful for the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia, which will take place in October-November.

Patel is reportedly said to be suffering from a side strain and has already missed the first four matches of the ongoing T20I series against the West Indies. He last featured for England in the three-match T20I series and scalped four wickets at an economy of 8.45.

The final deadline for sending the squad for the Asia Cup is Monday (8 August), and BCCI is expected to announce the Indian contingent on the same day. Pakistan team were the first team to announce their squad for the event on August 3.

Ravi Bishnoi, Axar Patel and Sanju Samson included in India Playing XI for 4th T20I

The Indian team have called up Ravi Bishnoi, Axar Patel and Sanju Samson for the ongoing fourth T20I against West Indies in Florida. They have replaced the likes of Hardik Pandya, Ravi Ashwin and Shreyas Iyer.

India is currently leading the series 2-1 and will be looking to take an unassailable lead by winning this game. Captain Rohit Sharma has reckoned that it’s critical for the team management to give enough opportunity to every player for preparing them for the T20 World Cup 2022.

“I understand where we stand as a team and will be looking to give chances to some of the other guys. We need to make them feel confident, that means we'll have to give them plenty of games. We are building towards the WC, the guys need to be tested in certain aspects of the game,” said Rohit.
