Jasprit Bumrah and Jofra Archer will play for the same team in the Indian Premier League. The same was confirmed after the five-time champions successfully bid for him at the Player Auctions in Bengaluru on Sunday. While Archer will not play in IPL 2022, MI have kept their eyes on the long-term goals. This means that Bumrah and Archer bowling together has become a mouth-watering prospect but the earliest that can happen is still over a year away.

Yet the news of two of the most feared pacers bowling together has created so much buzz that some of the netizens have demanded that it should not even be allowed. While Bumrah is known for his toe-crushing yorkers as well as his ability to swing the ball, Archer is all about raw pace and accuracy. Their combo is one word- "lethal."

However, seems like Archer wasn't a big Bumrah fan back in the day. An eight-year-old tweet from the English cricketer has gone viral which reads: "Hate to seem bumrah bowl." The tweet was posted on May 19, 2014 when Bumrah was taking his initial strides to be the feared pacer that he has now evolved into. Archer had perhaps posted this casually, not realizing what the future had in store for both of them.

A Twitter user even advised Mumbai Indians to sort out the issue between Archer and Bumrah. Meanwhile, in absence of Archer for the inaugural year, MI will hope that Tymal Mills does the job for them in IPL 2022. He will get to share the pace bowling responsibilities along with Bumrah this season and would look to bring his rich T20 experience to good use in this season.

With Mills also having a reputation of being good at the death, Mumbai can even afford to use Bumrah a bit more leniently in the powerplay and middle overs. Basil Thampi and Jaydev Unadkat are some of the other domestic fast bowling talents that MI have managed to bag in their squad for this season.
