Cricket is widely known for its onfield rivalries between quality batters and bowlers. While on a few occasions, rivalries between former cricketers off-the-field grab as much limelight as onfield actions. One such digital rivalry is brewing up between former England skipper Michael Vaughan and India's former batter Wasim Jaffer. The duo leaves no opportunity to pull each other's leg on Twitter at the expense of their country's performances.

Each time their respective teams fail to make a mark in a contest, the duo takes a dig at each other on Twitter and indulges in witty banter. Vaughan has been a cricket commentator and analyst for quite a while now. Jaffer has recently grabbed a lot of attention with his apt and humorous Twitter posts related to cricket development. The duo has engaged in a handful of Twitter banters, which became talk to town amongst cricket fans from both countries.

In a conversation with Indian cricketer R Ashwin, Michael Vaughan explained why the two are constantly at each other's throats on social media. Responding to Ashwin's query about his light-hearted brewing rivalry with Wasim Jaffer, the former England skipper recalled a moment from two decades back when India batter became the victim of Vaughan.

Vaughan explains, "Well, it goes back to 2002 where he snuck a ball up the slope at Lord's and was out at first slip. He was my first Test wicket. So, he can't have been that good with the bat if he got out to me." Notably, during the 1st Test between India and England back in 2002 at Lord's, Jaffer scored a half-century in India's second innings. Later, he was caught by skipper Naseer Hussain in the slip cordon on Vaughan's over. Adding further, Vaughan said, "We have a bit of fun. I really enjoy it. I am sure he would have something by now, but I haven't seen Twitter today, so I am waiting."

Most recently, while wishing birthday to Jaffer, Vaughan took a dig at former India batter by wishing him a birthday but reminding him that he was his first Test wicket. Responding to Vaughan's wish, Jaffer hilariously wrote back, "Haha, thank you, my permanent social media wicket."

Indeed, a Twitter banter between both the players is something every cricket fan enjoys as their take on the game is undoubtedly an insightful one.
