Former South Africa cricketer Herschelle Gibbs has put allegations on Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) of threatening him over his participation in the Kashmir Premier League. The T20 tournament is set to commence on August 6 in Muzaffarabad, Pakistan. Taking to social media, the former Proteas star said that the cricket board of India has warned him that they will bar him from all his cricketing activities in India, if he takes part in this tournament.

The 47-year-old said that the BCCI is trying to bring their political agenda with Pakistan into play and thus threatening him to feature in the tournament.

"Completely unnecessary of the @BCCI to bring their political agenda with Pakistan into the equation and trying to prevent me playing in the @kpl_20. Also threatening me saying they won’t allow me entry into India for any cricket related work. Ludicrous Face," he tweeted.

Rashid Latif had also put similar allegations on BCCI

Before Gibbs, former Pakistan cricketer Rashid Latif also talked about the same issue on social media. "The @BCCI warning cricket boards that if their former players took part in Kashmir Premier League, they wouldn’t be allowed entry in India or allowed to work in Indian cricket at any level or in any capacity. Gibbs, Dilshan, @MontyPanesar & several others have been selected in KPL," he had written in his post.

Six teams set to take part in Kashmir Premier League

Talking about the Kashmir Premier League, the T20 competition will see as many as six teams fight it out for ultimate glory. These are named Overseas Warriors, Muzaffarabad Tigers, Rawalakot Hawks, Bagh Stallions, Mirpur Royals and Kotli Lions. While Imad Wasim will captain the Warriors team, Mohammad Hafeez shall be leading the Tigers. Moreover, Shahid Afridi is set to be the skipper of the Hawks with Shadab Khan to lead the Stallions. Shoaib Malik and Kamran Akmal will lead Royals and Lions respectively.

The tournament was initially scheduled to begin on May 2021 but the PCB deferred the start of the tournament to August since the Pakistan Super League was not completed by then.
