The Portland Trail Blazers have been hanging by the thread in the Western Conference playoff spots, with Los Angeles Lakers right behind them on#7. Meanwhile,  the Houston Rockets have missed out on making it into the playoffs by a long way; a scenario that has happened after 7 consecutive seasons.

Injury Report and Starting 5

The Houston Rockets have their marquee players, John Wall (right hamstring strain), Dante Exum (right calf strain), Eric Gordon (right groin strain) and Dabid Nwaba (right wrist sprain) all been ruled out for the rest of the NBA 2020-21 Season. While Christian Wood and Kelly Olynyk both being questioned about the game. Moreover, Avery Bradley is out for personal reasons.

This could make Houston Rockets set their starting 5 as-

Point Guard – DJ Augustin,
Shooting Guard – DaQuan Jeffries,
Small Forward –
Jae’Sean Tate,
Power Forward – Anthony Lamb,
Center – Kenyon Martin Jr.

On the other hand, Portland Trail Blazers look to be in solid form as all their players in good shape, except veteran Carmelo Anthony, who suffered a right ankle sprain in the previous game. With in-form Anfernee Simons and Derrick Jones Jr. expected to play for more minutes, Portland Trail Blazers could start this match with the given below line up-

Point Guard – Damian Lillard
Shooting Guard – CJ McCollum,
Small Forward – Norman Powell,
Power Forward – Robert Covington,
Center – Jusuf Nurkic.

Given that a loss is no option for Portland Trail Blazers as this would make them face Golden State Warriors in the play-in tournament.

With Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers both winning their previous games, Portland Trail Blazers would be the most favourable to emerge victorious against the short-handed Houston Rockets.
