Australia has managed to pull off a historic series victory against Pakistan on their home turf after a 24-year hiatus. The Aussies also managed to register their first Test series victory in Asia since 2011, where they had defeated Sri Lanka 1-0. Similarly, Pat Cummins has also joined an elite club of Australian captains to win a Test series in Pakistan alongside Richie Bennaud and Mark Taylor.

But this victory has cemented Australia on the top of the ICC World Test Championship table with a winning percentage of 75% alongside 72 points from five wins and two draws from two series without any penalties. Whereas, Pakistan has currently gone down to fourth place below India after being second in the table. Consequently, the South African team has gone at second place and would look to lock this position against Bangladesh.

Similarly the runner-ups for the 2021 WTC, India have jumped up one place as they are scheduled to take on England as they complete their Test series from last year that was postponed due to the COVID-19 virus.

Australian Captain Pat Cummins has managed to win his second consecutive Test Series as the 47th captain of Australia. He had a Player of the Match performance in the decisive final Test against Pakistan and was elated with the result. In the post-match interview,  he talked about how the team combined to perform and build on the momentum after winning the Ashes,

He said, “In the first innings the way we batted, the way we put ourselves in front was fantastic. Thought if we bowled to our potential it was enough. Was kind of weird that the trend of the game was that the first couple of wickets were hard to get, once it got 30-40 overs old. The really great thing about this whole squad is .. we played really well in Australia in the Ashes.”

“And now here. Swepson probably didn’t get the just rewards, was an important member of our bowling group. We’ve been so well received here. Didn’t know what to expect here but it has been an amazing experience. Been a lot of fun. Competitive cricket. In a lot of way, it’s been more important than just the result.”
