The Delhi Capitals suffered a crushing defeat against the Gujarat Titans at the MCA stadium in Pune. Both teams entered this contest after winning their first match. But now the Gujarat-based is one of only two undefeated teams. The Titans lost the toss and were put in to bat as they went on to score 171.

India batter Shubman Gill top-scored as he hit 84 off 46 balls with six fours and four sixes. But Gujarat truly dominated the Capitals in the second innings. New Zealand fast bowler Lockie Fergusson had an incredible spell as he took four wickets and allowed only 22 runs. Fergusson was awarded the Player of the Match in Gujarat's second win.

Whereas the Delhi Capitals have two points from two games and a net run rate of +0.065. Delhi will now face Lucknow Super Giants on 7 April, while the Titans will take on the Punjab Kings on 8 April.

Today’s Matchup

The Chennai Super Kings will take on the Punjab Kings in match 11 of the season. The game will be played at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. Both teams enter this game after losing their previous matches. Lucknow Super Giants defeated CSK while PBKS were beaten by Kolkata Knight Riders.

What did the captains say?

DC captain Rishabh Pant pointed out the areas of improvement for the team after the defeat. Pant said, “ I think according to the wicket that total was not so big. We could have batted well specially in the middle overs, we lost three wickets in the powerplay and three in the middle. I think every match is going to be hard after losing so many wickets. Depending on the weather conditions we will decide to bat or bowl first, but we are not thinking about that now and we will see when we come back to Pune.”

“He (Ponting) has been amazing since day one. When you lose you feel heartbroken but at the end of the day if you keep improving and have a better environment then people can perform in the next match”, Pant added.

GT captain Hardik Pandya was elated with the team’s second back to back victory. He said, “Really happy with the way boys are coming out and contributing. The kind of attack we have, we always felt that we can make a score that's 10 under-par look like 25 above. I thought there were periods were Delhi were ahead, but then that Lockie over really changed things for us. We were about 10-15 short. But with the bowling we have, I'm confident of making it up in the field.”

“We were one bowler short with Aaron's injury, had to take it as deep as possible and it worked for us. Till Rishabh was there, the game was in the balance or maybe Delhi was ahead, and that over from Lockie really turned it for us. This is the Shubman we all want to see and I hope all the other batters can take confidence from him”, he concluded.
