Max Verstappen’s car took a heavy toll from the damages after it crashed on the first lap of the British Grand Prix this Sunday. Verstappen hit the tyre barriers hard on the opening lap of the Grand Prix after colliding with championship rival Lewis Hamilton. The image of the car after the crash was not pleasant to look at.

Estimated cost of repair of the car is around  €750,000

Now according to Helmut Marko, Red Bull will have to carry a huge expense to get the car back on track which is a huge hit for the Milton-Keynes based team. “The car is a total loss,” said Marko, who also revealed that the cost of repairs is currently estimated at €750,000. “It’s a significant amount that hurts us, especially in times of budgetary constraints.”

Marko has further revealed that Verstappen is doing well and would return for the Hungarian Grand Prix. Marko said Verstappen has some pain in his neck. The championship leader was released from the hospital on Sunday night after precautionary checks. "He [Verstappen] is doing surprisingly well," said Marko. "He was accompanied by his father yesterday, and for safety reasons, they spent the night in a hotel. "Max has only a bit of neck pain, but other than that, fortunately, everything is okay. You will see a very motivated Max in Hungary," he added.

Red Bull to re-appeal the 10-second penalty given to Hamilton

Moreover, Red Bull is also planning to re-appeal, as it has not found the 10-second penalty justifiable, and they need stricter action against Lewis for the incident. Verstappen and Red Bull would now like to put Silverstone behind them and focus on Budapest where the next Grand Prix is scheduled in two weeks. With Lewis reducing the gap at the top of the table to leader Max, it’ll be interesting to see who takes the top spot in the driver’s championship after the end of the Hungarian Grand Prix.
