The final day of squad finalization for the 2021 T20 World Cup, October 10 is upon us and all the teams have the option to tweak their side for the marquee tournament set to be played in UAE and Oman. India have selected a robust squad for the World Cup but some of the selected players have been out of touch recently. While a few unselected players have really stamped their authority on the second leg of IPL 2021.

Can the Men in Blue tweak their squad on the last day for final squad submission? It is being learnt that captain Virat Kohli, vice-captain Rohit Sharma, head coach Ravi Shastri and the Indian team selectors will have one final meeting to review the final squad. While India indeed has indeed time to make changes in their T20 World Cup squad till October 15, they can obviously make changes before that too. Let's wait for an official word though.

October 13, 2021, 11:47 AM: Fast bowling sensation Umran Khan roped in as net bowler

While Avesh Khan was confirmed as a net bowler, earlier Umran Khan had also been roped in as a net bowler. While the youngster has raw pace and was the fastest India pacer in IPL 2021 clicking above 150 kmph, India batters would want to face him when preparing for express quick bowlers in match conditions.

October 12, 2021, 06:30 PM: Venkatesh Iyer likely as Hardik Pandya's cover for T20 WC

KKR all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer could be asked to remain in the bio-bubble in UAE and join Team India as cover for Hardik Pandya in the forthcoming T20 World Cup. While Hardik did not bowl in the UAE leg of the tournament and scored just 75 runs in five matches, Iyer has scored 265 runs in 8 matches so far and also has 3 wickets to his credit.

October 12, 2021, 04:50 PM: Avesh Khan picked as Team India's net bowler

Delhi Capitals pacer Avesh Khan will join the Indian team at the T20 World Cup as a net bowler. Avesh has been asked by the BCCI to stay back in the UAE after the IPL to join India's T20 World Cup squad as a net bowler.

October 12, 2021, 12:15 PM: Mahmudullah to miss Bangladesh’s first warm-up match

Bangladesh skipper Mahmudullah will miss the warm-up match against Sri Lanka on Tuesday due to a ‘slight back pain’. Bangladesh selector Habibul Bashar said that the Tigers took the decision as a precautionary measure to make sure that their captain is fully fit before their Group B games.

According to reports, KKR duo Venkatesh Iyer and Shivam Mavi could also join the Indian team to support T20 WC training.

October 12, 2021, 10:00 AM: Hello and Welcome everybody!

It was learnt yesterday that Super12 teams have time until October 15 to finalize their squads for the upcoming T20 World Cup.

“Teams can change their teams seven days prior to the start of their support period. India’s support period starts with the Super 12 which begin on Oct 23. So, they have time to change the team till Oct 15 midnight,” a Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) source was quoted as saying by TOI.

October 11, 2021, 7:48 PM: According to reports, Harshal Patel might be considered as a reserve for the T20 World Cup after having a dream season in the ongoing IPL 2021.

October 11, 2021, 3:15 PM: No significant update on the revised team for the T20 World Cup as yet. But it is being learned that a change in the team will be difficult until and unless there are serious injury or fitness concerns. Let's wait for a bit more clarity on this one.

09:50 PM: According to the latest update, the selectors will take a call on Hardik Pandya on October 15. As per a TOI report, the deadline for the Super 12 teams to submit their squad to ICC is October 15.

It is worth noting that Hardik Pandya still does not seem fully fit as he didn't bowl a single ball in the UAE leg of IPL 2021.

11:00 AM: Yuzvendra Chahal to stay back?

According to reports, there is a likelihood that BCCI will ask in-form leg-spinner, Yuzvendra Chahal, to stay back in UAE. Rahul Chahar was preferred over Chahal for the World Cup. The BCCI selectors will reportedly ask Chahal to stay back in UAE as Chahal has been in superb form in the ongoing IPL, In case of any injury, Chahal could be drafted in the team.

4: 50 PM: Shoaib Malik replaces injured Sohaib Maqsood in Pak squad for T20 WC

Injured batsman Sohaib Maqsood will be replaced by veteran all-rounder Shoaib Malik in the Pakistan squad for T20 World Cup 2021. 34-year-old Maqsood had suffered a back injury in the National T20 Cup after which he was immediately taken for an MRI.

3: 30 PM: Hardik Pandya will be able to bowl from next week: Rohit Sharma

Mumbai Indians skipper and India’s limited overs vice-captain Rohit Sharma has stated that Hardik Pandya is getting better day by day and he might be able to bowl in the next week or so. He added that the pyhsios and trainers are working on his bowling and the doctors and physios will be able to give actual update on his bowling. Rohit also backed Pandya’s abilities with the bat.

2: 45 PM: Indian team players join bubble

The Indian players, who have completed their IPL duties have started moving to the Indian team bio-bubble for the T20 World Cup 2021.

2:30 PM: Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Ravi Shastri to have final final conversation today

Notably, it has been learnt that Team India skipper Virat Kohli, vice-captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Ravi Shastri will have one final round of conversation on Saturday to review the Indian squad for upcoming T20 World Cup. There will be plenty of topics on the agenda including the role of Hardik Pandya and the addition of Yuzvendra Chahal to India's T20 WC squad.

2:00 PM: Pakistan name 3 changes to T20 WC squad; Sarfaraz Ahmed in

Earlier, Pakistan selectors confirmed their squad for the upcoming T20 WC. From the squad that was announced last month, as many as three changes were made. Sarfaraz Ahmed & Haider Ali replaced Azam Khan and Mohammad Hasnain respectively. While Fakhar Zaman, who was earlier included as travel reserve, has now been included in the main squad, replacing Khushdil.
