Team India thoroughly outplayed Scotland on Friday with an 8-wicket win over the Scottish Saltires. The stage was set for the Indian batters to unleash after the bowlers from the side wreaked havoc to bundle out Scotland for mere 85 runs in 17.4 overs. Notably, India needed to chase down the target in 7.1 overs to surpass the net run rates of New Zealand and Afghanistan and the Men in Blue did that in some real style.

Riding on the fireworks of openers KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma, India got home in just 6.3 overs. While Rahul scored a 19-ball fifty helped by 3 sixes and 6 fours, Rohit smashed 30 off 16, an innings that was laced with 5 fours and a six. There is no doubt that the batters stunned the spectators, as everyone who watched them taking Scotland bowlers to cleaners could do nothing but stand and admire the class of pure hitting, the credit from Indian bowlers must not be taken away as they kept Scotland under the pump since the start of the game.

The party for the Indian players started on Friday with the wicket of Scotland skipper and opener Kyle Coetzer who was bowled by Bumrah in the third over of the innings. The wicket opened the floodgates and the likes of Mohammed Shami, Ravindra Jadeja took the most out of it. In the sixth over, Shami dismissed George Munsey and Jadeja followed it up with a couple of wickets in the next over, which was his first over in the game. The wickets kept falling in tandem, irrespective of who the bowler was. Apart from Varun Chakravarthy, every Indian bowler picked at least one wicket. Shami and Jadeja returned identical figures of 3/15, while Bumrah and Ashwin returned 2/10 and 1/29, respectively.
