Legendary Australian leg-spinner Shane Warne reportedly suffered a motorbike accident. He apparently met this accident on Sunday when he slipped from his bike with his son Jackson riding pillion and slipped from the vehicle. While it is being said that Warne did escape what could have been serious injuries, the 52-year-old is still in pain.

Warne did pay a visit to the hospital after the unfortunate turn of events for a body checkup. As per one of his statements to The Age, the former cricketer is having a sore body. "I’m a bit battered and bruised and very sore," Warner said.

Despite the accident, Warne is likely to make a comeback in the commentary box for the much-awaited Ashes series. The first of the five-match series is set to commence on December 8 at the Gabba in Brisbane.

Steve Smith should not be Australia vice-captain: Shane Warne

Earlier Warne had blasted Cricket Australia for announcing Steve Smith as the vice-captain of the Australian Test team.

"In my opinion announcing him as vice-captain opens up Cricket Australia for ridicule and criticism," Warne said in his Herald Sun column.

"We all love Steve Smith and are proud that he’s the best Test batsmen in the world again, but he should not be the Australian vice-captain," he added.

"Everyone makes mistakes we know that and we’ve moved on from sandpaper-gate. But that happened under Steve Smith’s captaincy; he allowed that to happen on his watch. I think the punishment he was given was way too severe, which I said at the time. He paid a huge price for his mistake," he further said.

"But his second chance is getting to play for Australia again and in my opinion announcing him as vice-captain opens up Cricket Australia for ridicule and criticism and they should throw the code of conduct out the window," Warne opined.

Although it is Pat Cummins who has been elected as the leader of the group, Smith may come into the picture with the Ashes summer being five-Tests long requiring immense physical and mental toughness. Cummins' injury concerns are well known and Smith could lead in the middle. Moreover, another problem with Smith is his lack of experience with him becoming just the second captain in the last 45 years, after Michael Clarke, who hasn't captained at the state level.
