In a brief statement released by the Chennai Super Kings on Saturday, the defending champions said that Ravindra Jadeja will hand over the captaincy responsibilities back to MS Dhoni. While the reason they have cited is that Jadeja wanted to focus on his game, the news is attracting all kinds of reactions from all corners.

Former IPL star and domestic cricket stalwart Rajat Bhatia also expressed his views on the same. When asked if he was happy with Chennai's decision, the ex-all-rounder said that he was more shocked than happy. He said that while he was taken aback by Chennai's decision to announce Ravindra Jadeja as the captain 2 days before the start of IPL 2022 in the first place, once they had decided to move on from MS Dhoni, they should have considered other options for captaincy.

Bhatia made this statement on SportsTiger's show Mid-wicket Live where he even termed the way the issue was dealt with by Chennai as "not correct."

"Ravindra Jadeja has decided to relinquish captaincy to focus and concentrate more on his game and has requested MS Dhoni to lead CSK," CSK's statement read.

"MS Dhoni has accepted to lead CSK in the larger interest and to allow Jadeja to focus on his game," it added.

After the announcement, CSK will play their first match in IPL 2022 later on Sunday where Dhoni will walk out for the toss alongside Kane Williamson as Chennai takes on Sunrisers Hyderabad.
