The Royal Challengers Bangalore will take on Kolkata Knight Riders on March 30th, hoping to register their maiden victory in the IPL 2022 season. Despite scoring 200 plus runs, RCB failed to defend the total in front of a collective effort from the Punjab batters. Although skipper Faf du Plessis was the highest run-scorer, former skipper Virat Kohli stole the show with his unbeaten 41 in 29 balls in the first match.

Kohli's inning was studded with two maximums and one boundary as the batter built crucial partnerships with Du Plessis and Dinesh Karthik. While Kohli showed what kind of form he came with in the tournament, his former teammate and dear friend AB de Villiers has stated that the Indian batter will amaze everyone with his performance. While speaking on the VUSport Streaming YouTube channel, De Villiers stated that Virat Kohli would score 600 plus runs in the tournament. He said, "I am expecting big show from Kohli, he is relieved of captaincy responsibilities, and now I am hoping him to unleash his best batting potential in the tournament."

However, Kohli can register another exciting record to his name in the clash against Kolkata Knight Riders. As with 547 fours to his name, Kohli needs only three more to become only the second player in IPL history to reach 550 fours in the league. Shikhar Dhawan, with 659 fours in IPL, is the only player ahead of Kohli in the tournament.

De Villiers, who announced his retirement from the game following the end of the previous edition of IPL, has expressed that he will support the Bangalore franchise from far away.
