Angel Di Maria has once again taken a dig at his former club by claiming that he "didn't give a f***" about the club's iconic number 7 shirt that he was given to wear during his stint with them. Notably, the Argentine had joined United in a then-record £59.7million transfer from Real Madrid in 2014. However, his stint with the Red Devils was nightmarish and came to an end just after 12 months.

Since then, Di Maria has time and again gone on record making such claims about his time at Old Trafford. And now in a sensational claim, he has said that even the iconic number 7 shirt means nothing to him despite its long and illustrious history.

Notably, the number 7 was worn by the greats like David Beckham, Cristiano Ronaldo and George Best in the past and was even handed over to Di Maria when he arrived at the Premier League club. However, he wanted the number 11 shirt desperately but never was able to get it.

My problem at Manchester was Louis van Gaal: Di Maria

"I didn't give a f*** about the Manchester United No 7, at first they talked to me a lot about it... it was just a shirt," he told Libero.

"My problem at Manchester was the coach (Louis van Gaal)," the Argentine added.

"Van Gaal was the worst of my career. I would score, assist, and the next day he would show me my misplaced passes. He displaced me from one day to the other, he didn't like players being more than him,' he further said.

Notably, after just a season at United, he left for Paris Saint-Germain in a £44.3m deal in August 2015. Despite a disastrous turnout for the Red Devils, Di Maria has enjoyed a great run with PSG and has gone on to win 17 trophies with them as yet.

Jose Mourinho once fought with Ronaldo, reveals the 33-year-old

"Mourinho (Jose) is insane, with me he was always a good guy," Di Maria said looking back at his time under him for Real Madrid.

"He fought with anyone though, he didn't give a f***," he added.

"One time he fought with Ronaldo telling him he didn't run, that everyone ran for him," he recalled.
