Mumbai Indians have the reputation of being slow starters. While they have managed to live up to that reputation yet again, having faced three successive losses to start their IPL 2022 campaign, captain Rohit Sharma wasn't pleased especially with the manner in which they lost against Kolkata Knight Riders on Wednesday.

Although Mumbai Indians were in the game big time after dismissing half the side for 101 and having sent Andre Russell back in the dugout with the Kolkata Knight Riders chasing over 160 and opener Venkatesh Iyer not looking in the best of nick, Pat Cummins produced the joint-fastest IPL half-century to snatch the match from under the noses of the five-time champions.

After the match when broadcaster Danny Morrison seemed to console Rohit by reminding him that they have been in this position before, the Hitman stated that he does not want to be in this position year after year.

"Never expected him (Cummins) to come and play like that! Lot of credit to him for the way he played," Rohit said after the game.

"With the bat we didn't start well. Over the last four overs, to get 160-plus was a great effort," he reflected.

"We had the game until the 15th over, but the way Cummins played... We thought we could have them. But this will be hard to digest - the way it turned out to be in the last few overs. There is a lot of hard work we need to put in," he said before adding: "I don’t want to be in this position every time."

Mumbai will next be up against Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 9, Saturday.
