Andy Murray has recovered from his abdominal injury which could have affected his participation at Wimbledon, but now the former world number one is ready to comeback as he said on Saturday before declaring that there was still a lot of “good tennis” left in him.

While talking about his recovery, the 35-year-old said, “It’s gone well. I’ve been able to gradually progress my training this week and got to play a few sets and a lot of points. The last few days have been good.”

He then addressed how he is still ready to face the best players in the world. ”I think I showed a couple of weeks ago that there was still good tennis left in me,” Murray said. ”I beat a guy in the top five, I was neck-and-neck with Berrettini, who is one of the best grasscourt players in the world before the injury.”

He continued, ”I played well against Kyrgios, as well. The first set was a good level. And I’ve been doing pretty well in practices. I know the tennis is in there; I just need to bring it out during the event now.”

I trust a lot in what Ivan [Lendl] says: Murray

He also talked about working with Ivan Lendl and said, “Having Ivan (Lendl) on my team helps. We’ve had a lot of success in the past. We know each other well. He still believes in me. There are not loads of coaches, people out there that have done over this last period, and he has. That definitely helps.”

Murray appointed Ivan Lendl in March 2022 for their third spell since they first worked together in 2012. Talking about their relationship, Murray said,  “I trust a lot in what Ivan [Lendl] says. We obviously had some excellent results together in the past.”

“It means a lot to me that he is still willing to help me and believes that I can achieve great results. I trust him in that, too. I still feel like it is possible,” the Brit expressed. “If he didn’t believe that, I don’t think he would work with me, and I think he would tell me. So, I am looking forward to it.”
