England white-ball captain Eoin Morgan bid adieu to international cricket on Tuesday. The 35-year-old hung his boots after serving at the highest level for over one-and-half decades. During his stint with England, Morgan led the team in more than 200 games across ODIs and T20Is and also won the first-ever ODI World Cup for England in 2019.

Apart from playing for England, Morgan also played in different T20 leagues across the globe including the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Englishman’s latest stint in the IPL was with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) where he also captained the side in 2021. Under Morgan’s captaincy, KKR made it to the finals of IPL 2021. Although they lost the summit clash, KKR were lauded for their epic turnaround in that season.

Now, as Morgan has drawn curtains on his decorated career, his KKR teammate Dinesh Karthik has penned a special note for the England cricketer. Karthik lauded Morgan for leading England to ultimate glory in 2019. He then remembered the time spent with Morgan at KKR.

“The man who helped England achieve what they were wishing for years. During the time I spent with you at @KKRiders, I thoroughly enjoyed the leader and the lovely person that you are as well. Best wishes to you, Tara, and the family,” wrote Karthik on Twitter.

Morgan announced his international retirement after deliberation and consideration. "After careful deliberation and consideration, I am here to announce my retirement from international cricket with immediate effect.

"To call time on what has been without a doubt the most enjoyable and rewarding chapter of my career hasn't been an easy decision, but I believe now is the right time to do so, both for me, personally, and for both England white-ball sides I have led to this point,” said Morgan. Notably, Morgan played for England for 13 long years where he represented the Three Lions in 225 ODIs and 115 T20Is.
