The 12th edition of the International Boxing Association’s Women’s World Boxing Championships is all set to start on 6 May 2022 in Istanbul. A total of record-breaking 394 elite female boxers from 84 countries will participate in this year's event.

Notably, Sports Authority of India has also allotted INR 92.12 Lakh to facilitate the training camp and competition for the team as they are sending an experienced squad for the tournament.

When will the tournament start?

The tournament is set to start on 6 May and will conclude on 21 May, 2022. Before the tournament starts, a camp will be set up from 20 April to 5 May, 2022. The Indian squad will train with Turkey, Algeria, Panama, Lithuania, Morocco, Bulgaria, Serbia, Dominican Republic and Ireland. 

What is the prize money for the tournament?

The total prize for the tournament has been set at $2.4 million (£1.7 million/€2.06 million), with $100,000 (£73,800/€86,230) for gold medalists, $50,000 (£37,000/€43,000) for silver medalists and $25,000 (£18,450/€21,560) for bronze medalists.

Who are part of India’s squad for World Championships?

Nitu (48kg), Anamika (50kg), Nikhat (52kg), Shiksha (54kg), Manisha (57kg), Jaismine (60kg), Parveen (63kg), Ankushita (66kg), Lovlina (70kg), Saweety (75kg), Pooja Rani (81kg), and Nandini (+81kg) are a few prominent names from the Indian squad.
