The Match 23 of T20 World Cup 2021 is going to be a very tricky one with West Indies and Bangladesh, two sides who have lost both their matches so far, locking horns with each other to get crucial two points in their Super 12 campaign. A loss in this match would almost close the doors of the semi-finals which is why it is going to be a huge contest for both sides. Considering it will be an afternoon game, we can witness a high-voltage contest as both sides will give it their all in Sharjah, with so much at stake.
Just like IPL, the wicket in Sharjah has not been easy to bat on with spinners getting a lot of assistance because of the slow and sluggish track. It's very challenging for any new batsman to get going right from beginning, resulting in an exciting contest between bat and ball. However, the boundaries at the venue are very short which is something that could go in favour of the West Indies, who have some explosive power-hitters in their side.
West Indies: The defending champions find themselves in a do-or-die situation after suffering two back-to-back defeats in Super 12. Kieron Pollard led side need to win this contest to keep themselves alive in the tournament and they would need their big players to step up. Evin Lewis scored an impressive fifty at top in the previous contest but did not get much support from other batsmen. The stadium at Sharjah might allow players like Pooran, Hetmyer and Russell to wreak havoc, and they will certainly fancy themselves against an out-of-form Bangladesh bowling side.
Bangladesh: The Tigers were handed a thumping defeat at the hands of Sri Lanka in the first match before England completely outplayed them in all departments in their second game. Mahmudullah's side have not been able to live up to the expectations of playing competitive cricket in the mega event so far and they are on a downward slope with none of their players showing consistent form. While Shakib and Mushfiqur are the only two batsmen who have looked in decent touch, the bowling has misfired miserably so far. If the same continues, they might complete a hattrick of losses on Friday.
West Indies: Kieron Pollard (c), Nicholas Pooran, Fabian Allen, Dwayne Bravo, Roston Chase, Andre Fletcher, Chris Gayle, Shimron Hetmyer, Evin Lewis, Obed McCoy, Lendl Simmons, Ravi Rampaul, Andre Russell, Oshane Thomas, Hayden Walsh Jr
Bangladesh: Mahmudullah (c), Mohammad Naim Sheikh, Soumya Sarkar, Liton Das, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Afif Hossain, Nurul Hasan Sohan, Shak Mahedi Hasan, Nasum Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, Shoriful Islam, Taskin Ahmed, Shaif Uddin, Shamim Hossain
Considering the quality of players on each side and little glimpses of the form shown by players, West Indies are likely to secure victory in this contest. However, Bangladesh do have the potential to turn around their campaign but they will need to produce an all-round performance, something which we have not seen in the last couple of games.
