The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Wednesday announced the fresh Test Rankings for Men. Indian ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah made a significant gain of three places to enter back in the Top 10 of the bowler's rankings, while KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal also made gains. South Africa's Kagiso Rabada also moved a place up to occupy the sixth position in the rankings.
For India, Mohammad Shami, who took eight wickets including a fifer in the first Test match against South Africa, moved up by two places to sit at 17th position. South African pace trio of Rabada, Lungi Ngidi, and Marco Jansen also made gains. While Rabada moved up by one place, Ngidi rose 16 spots to move to 30th on the list. Marco Jansen, who made his Test debut in the first match, entered into the rankings in 97th position.
In batting, KL Rahul made a massive gain of 18 places taking him to 31st place. Rahul amassed 146 runs in the first match including a gritty century (123) in the first innings and helped his team register a 113-run victory. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli dropped to 9th position after scoring 35 and 18 in two innings of the first Test.
Ajinkya Rahane, Mayank Agarwal, Dean Elgar also move up
India's Mayank Agarwal gained one place of his own for his contribution. Agarwal scored 64 runs in the first match including a half-century in the first innings. Apart from him, Ajinkya Rahane moved up two places to 25th in the latest update. South Africa captain Dean Elgar has progressed two spots to 14th after, after his fighting 77 in the second innings. Temba Bavuma meanwhile climbed 16 places to 39th for his scores of 52 and 35 not out.
