The stage is set for the 2022 Women's ODI World Cup set to be staged in New Zealand. The marquee event will commence on March 4, 2022 at the Bay Oval in Tauranga with the White Ferns taking on the West Indies. The first five matches will witness two of the most sought-after cricketing rivalries with Australia up against England on March 5 and the much-anticipated India facing Pakistan fixture on March 6.
A total of 31 fixtures are set to be played across 31 days with eight teams competing to be the champion of the world. Six cities - Auckland, Christchurch, Dunedin, Hamilton, Tauranga, and Wellington are set to host the tournament.
The tournament is also a significant one since it is set to mark the return of the women's global cricketing event since the onset of the Coronavirus pandemic. The last women's event played before the outbreak of the pandemic was the ICC Women's T20 World Cup in Australia in March 2020 where the Meg Lanning-led team had defeated India in the titular clash at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
