The level of umpiring in the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is under scrutiny after multiple controversial decisions. The biggest of them came in the 18th match played between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Virat Kohli was given out LBW by the on-field umpires in the 19th over RCB's innings. But he referred it to the third umpire hoping the decision would be overturned.

The third umpire took close looks through multiple angles. While all of this was happening, the spectators were watching it all over the replays on the big screen. The slow-motion replays showed that the ball had touched the bat and pad simultaneously. But to everyone's surprise, the third umpire went with the decision, and Kohli had to walk out of the field.

The batter was furious and so were his fans. The angry fans took to Twitter to express their displeasure and started demanding BCCI's interference in the matter. Participating in the same debate, Iceland Cricket has offered to send its umpires to India to officiate the games. The board said that the third umpires should be able to make the right call by making the use of technology.

"It's not easy for on-field umpires to detect inside edges or whether the ball hit bat or pad first. But every TV umpire should be able to make the right call with the benefit of slow-motion replays and technology like UltraEdge. @BCCI We have trained umpires ready to fly over," wrote Iceland Cricket on Twitter.

Although Virat Kohli fell to a controversial decision his team won the match quite comprehensively. RCB defeated Mumbai Indians by seven wickets to register their third win of the tournament. Meanwhile, Mumbai lost their fourth consecutive game on the trot. They are yet to win a game this season.
