The greatest sitcoms of all times, and an all-time favourite of most Millennials and Gen Z, F.R.I.E.N.D.S was finally aired on Thursday and fans couldn't keep their calm. The sitcom, starring Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, Courteney Cox and David Schwimmer aired from 1994-2004, but is still loved by the fans, like no other show. Be it the characters or the references, they are still afresh in the minds of the people. The American comedy show is a huge entertainer and has a major fan base in India.

However, there is another source of entertainment that has hooked Indians for generations and is still going strong. Yes, you guessed it right, it's cricket! It’s arguably the best entertainer in India and if anything in the realm of entertainment has come close to the love which cricket has received, it’s undoubtedly the American sitcom – F.R.I.E.N.D.S.

Speaking of which, ever imagined how the parallel between the two biggest entertainers will look like? No need to imagine, we have got you covered.

Virat Kohli as Monica Geller

Talk about competitive spirit, being organized and perfectionism, and the first name to come to your mind has to be Monica Geller. She is an adamant and overly disciplined character, who is persistent and diligent towards her work. Speaking in the world of cricket, the Indian skipper Virat Kohli is no different. He hates losing, stands up against the opposition, is assertive, hard-working and can go all guns down to achieve his goal. Additionally, Kohli’s passion for the game stands in line with Monica’s love for cooking and enthusiasm to carry out any given task. Known as Mr Perfectionist and competitive in all aspects, Kohli is the apt equivalent of Monica Geller in the cricketing world.

Rohit Sharma as Joey Tribbani

The goofiest guy on the show, full of life with an extremely playful attitude, Joey Tribbani was the liveliest person on the show. Coming to the world of cricket, Hitman Rohit Sharma is this character, given his social approach, jolly behaviour and high female fan following. Rohit’s confidence, enthusiasm towards his on-field performances are in line with Joey’s willingness and passion to sway any role that he takes up, like Dr. Drake Ramoray in Days of Our Lives. The charisma Rohit has and the love that he receives, along with the similarities in traits makes him the Joey of Cricket.

Rishabh Pant as Pheobe Buffay

Out of the 6 characters, if we were to pick someone who is the weirdest, quirkiest yet most fun, it has to be Phoebe Buffay. Defined by a playful attitude and spontaneity, she can be equated with wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant. With a unique personality, quirky perspective about life and a vibrant attitude, Rishabh Pant stands out from the crowd and comes out as a weirdly fun person. Just like Phoebe, Pant is extremely expressive and doesn’t think twice before speaking. Given his numerous behind the stumps instances singing ‘Spiderman, Spideman’ and taking a dig at Aussies, brings out his fearless and fun-loving attitude just like Phoebe Buffay.

Hardik Pandya as Rachel Green

Rachel Karen Green is the most modern, trendy and fashion frenzy person on the show. Speaking of style icons and staying up with trends in Indian cricket, there’s no one better than Hardik Pandya to nail it. With a strong sense of self, ability to work in a team and provide a new age approach, Hardik Pandya accounts to be the equivalent of fashion icon Rachel Green. Apart from the modernity, and flaunting fashion skills, Pandya’s ability to adapt to situations and take up responsibilities is what makes him similar to Rachel.

Ravichandran Ashwin as Ross Geller

Talking about the most educated, intellectually smart character of the show, it would be none other than the dinosaur wizard- Ross Geller. Defined by academic orientation, intellectual attitude and a sense of maturity, Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is the perfect equivalent of the palaeontologist. Ashwin is undoubtedly one of the most educated cricketers in the room, with a high sense of maturity and experience in his field. Appearing serious and impassive to the world, both Ross and Ashwin often come out as boring and introverted individuals who are fun in their own ways but prefer to shy away. Not to forget, Ashwin’s mankading incidents validate Ross’ idea of Unagi- a state of total awareness.

Virender Sehwag as Chandler Bing

Extremely funny and sarcastic, Chandler Bing is the wittiest of them all. His sarcastic comments, sense of humour and sass makes him one of the most likeable characters of the show. Jumping to cricket, Indian legend Virender Sehwag is no different. His ease to crack jokes and witty one-liners set him apart from the others. Be it during his cricket days or today when he is a commentator, his easy-going and playful vibes equate him to being the Chandler Bing of cricket. Needless to say his bromance with fellow cricketers- be it Gambhir or Yuvraj is similar to the Chandler-Joey vibe on the show. Additionally, Chandler and Sehwag both stand as a protector and guardian for the people that matter to them.

As Chandler Bing would say “Could these BE more relevant????”
