The sports and film industry has had a long connection in India. While the actors love to see sportsperson outperforming their opponents on the field, the athletes love watching these actors on the big screen. And as cricket is the most loved sport in India, the film industry also has big cricket fans. Suniel Shetty, Ranveer Singh, and Kichcha Sudeep are a few to be named among the big cricket freaks.

On many occasions, professionals from the two industries also exchange gifts. Kichcha Sudeep also got a gift from none other than the legendary Kapil Dev. The 1983 World Cup-winning captain gifted Sudeep the bat he used in one of the matches in the big tournament and this sent the actor over the moon. Sudeep reacted after receiving the signed bat from the 1983 World Cup-winning team and said he feels being on top of the world.

“Wohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh??...What a Sunday .. thank uuuu @therealkapildev sirrrrr for this hugeeeeeee surprise I'm waking th to. Wowwww... wasnt expecting this. This a classic piece and I'm right now feeling on top of the world. Thank you thank you,” wrote Sudeep on Twitter alongside a picture of the bat.

Notably, this bat was from the match where Kapil Dev had played one of the best innings of his career. The then-Indian captain had scored an unbeaten 175 off 138 deliveries in a crucial match for India against Zimbabwe. Such was the dominance from Dev that day that India's second-highest scorer in the match was Syed Kirmani with his 26.

The weight of that knock can be understood by knowing that Kapil Dev lifted India from an abysmal 17/4 to 266 which eventually helped India win the match. This win helped India book a place in the semifinals and a week later, India lifted it’s first-ever World Cup title under Kapil Dev.
