India and West Indies are set to lock heads in the upcoming three-match ODI series, followed by 5-match T20Is. The proceedings for 50-over bilateral contest will kick start from Friday (22nd July) at Queen's Park Oval, in Trinidad. Indian selectors have named Shikar Dhawan as the skipper of the squad and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja as his deputy.

The likes of Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah have been rested from the ODI series, while Virat Kohli has been rested from the entire tour. The series is a perfect opportunity for players like Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan and Avesh Khan to showcase their potential and cement their position in the ODI format. Youngsters like Deepak Hooda, Arshdeep Singh, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Shubhman Gill have been included in the ODI squad.

Team India is coming on the back of comprehensive victory against England as the visitors beat the Englishmen 2-1. Meanwhile, Nicholas Pooran-led West Indies were whitewashed in their ODI series against Bangladesh 3-0. The host struggled in all the department against Bangladesh as the skipper was the highest run-getter with 91-runs in 3 matches.

However, inclusion of Jason Holder in the squad will provide an edge to the Nicholas Pooran, and the hosts will be hoping to forget the past. According to reports, Friday is going to be partly cloudy at Trinidad and temperature will range from 27 deg Celsius to 31 deg Celsius. Although, clouds are expected, but there is no prediction of rain and we can expect a full 100-over game.
