With August 8 being the deadline for announcing Indian squad for Asia Cup, Team India is likely to play the same squad for the most important cricket tournament of the year, the T20 World Cup. Earlier today, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a 15-member squad for the ODI series against Zimbabwe.

The Indian national team selectors have rested Virat Kohli and skipper Rohit Sharma and more senior players as the youngsters have been given a chance to prove their worth.

Multiple reports suggests that Team India will play the same squad for the Asia Cup 2022 and the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. The Asia Cup will be played from August 27 to September 11, while the T20 World Cup is set to be played in October-November.

Between the two pivotal tournaments, the Men in Blue will face Australia and South Africa for six T20I matches in September and October.

The three big guns of India - Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and Jasprit Bumrah are also expected to be back in the squad for the Asia Cup. Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah have been rested for the Zimbabwe tour, while KL Rahul is still suffering from COVID-19 and is expected to return for the Asia Cup.
