The Indian cricket team is currently in England for a multi-format series starting with the fifth rescheduled Test in Edgbaston. The Men in Blue will then play three T20Is and three ODIs against the hosts. While the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has already announced the squad for the Test, the squads for the T20I series and the ODI series are yet to be announced.

Before playing the fifth Test, India played a two-match T20I series against Ireland which they won 2-0 under the leadership of Hardik Pandya. The Men in Blue put in emphatic performance against Ireland to claim the series. While they beat the hosts by seven wickets in the first match, India won the second T20I by 4 runs. There were many brilliant performances from the Indian camp including Deepak Hooda and Sanju Samson.

With these young players impressing everyone with their performances, they may get an extended run and may feature in the 1st T20I against England. As per a report in PTI, the squad that featured in the Ireland series will play the 1st T20I against England while a separate squad for the next two games will be announced once the main players including Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are fit enough to play.

"The squad that played the T20I series in Ireland will remain in the first T20I and then from the second T20I, all the stars (Rohit, if fit, Kohli, Bumrah, Pant, Jadeja) will make a comeback," a BCCI source told PTI. "Once they are well-rested, all of them will be a part of the regular white-ball side but most of the players in Ireland will remain till the end of the T20I series,” it added.

Earlier on Tuesday, SportsTiger had reported that a few players from the squad that featured in the Ireland T20I series have been asked to fly back to India while the rest stay in Ireland. Arshdeep Singh, Rahul Tripathi, Venkatesh Iyer, Ravi Bishnoi, and Ruturaj Gaikwad are among the names to return to India.
