Much like India announced two separate teams for the T20Is against Sri Lanka and the tour of England last year, Team India is set to announce separate teams for the home series against South Africa and the tour of England. While the home series against the Proteas consists of as many as five T20Is, the tour of England will be a format series comprising of the remaining Test match from the last tour as well as 3 T20Is and 3 ODIs.

In a major blow ahead of India's England tour, Ajinkya Rahane has reportedly been ruled out owing to a hamstring injury. Meanwhile, Cheteshwar Pujara will be pretty much part of the selectors' scheme of things after an impressive stint in the County Championship. The other big news is that Dinesh Karthik and Hardik Pandya are expected to be part of the home series against South Africa.

"Pujara was never out of our plans. He had to regain his form and I think he has done it. Although his centuries have come in the second division of County but facing seamers in English conditions is never easy. He will join the squad in England. But it is up to the team management whether he will be selected in Playing XI," a member of the selection committee was quoted as saying by InsideSport.

Shikhar Dhawan likely to lead India squad for South Africa series: Reports

However, while both the Indian squads had played simultaneously the last time, it wouldn't be the case this time around with the India only playing their Test match on July 1 and the South Africa T20Is finishing on June 19. Having said that, the touring party will be travelling early to the United Kingdom and would also need a bit of a break after an intense and packed IPL season.

The senior members including captain Rohit Sharma will only be seen on the England squad and a younger squad perhaps led by Shikhar Dhawan will lead the T20 squad against the Proteas.
