New Zealand survived the 5th day of the 1st Test match against India to ensure the result of the game ends in a draw. Initially, New Zealand fought 1st session of the day very well by scoring 75 runs without losing a wicket. Night-watchman William Somerville played a brilliant hand with the bat by facing 110 balls and Tom Latham smashed another fifty-plus score. New Zealand in the 2nd session lost 3 wickets and were reduced to 125/4 after 63.1 overs. Ravindra Jadeja played a brilliant role in 3rd session and took 4 wickets in the innings to put the Kiwi team under pressure. New Zealand lost their 9th wicket at 90th over of their innings but the Rachin Ravindra-Ajaz Patel pair stood for almost 9 overs and saved the game for New Zealand.
