It's time for India to take on Sri Lanka at the latter's home in a white ball ODI and T20I series, which is set to be played from July 18. India and Sri Lanka have played a lot of white-ball cricket combining 184 ODIs and T20Is. This time the tour will comprise three ODIs starting from July 18 and three T20Is starting from July 25.
A fresh Indian team, consisting of young new faces, will take on the Lankan team in the tour as the senior Indian campaigners will be on duty of Test Cricket against England. Shikhar Dhawan will lead India under the guidance of Rahul Dravid. Dhawan is likely to open with Prithvi Shaw, followed by Suryakumar Yadav at three. India could play Samson or Kishan alongside Manish Pandey to complete the top five. Hardik is likely to play alongside Krunal and Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Deepak Chahar could lead the pace attack. India might play either Kuldeep or Chahal (Kul- Cha) alongside Varun Chakravarthy.
Sri Lankan team are coming on the back of a heavy defeat against England. And in the absence of experienced players like Danushka Gunathilaka, Kusal Mendis, Niroshan Dickwella, could make the job difficult for the hosts. Kusal Perera has been ruled out from the entire tour due to injury and Binura Fernando will also not be in action in ODIs due to strain. Their newest captain, Dasun Shanaka, will have a big responsibility on his shoulders as a leader, batsman and handy medium pace bowler.
