Indian women's hockey team finished their Tokyo 2020 campaign on a disappointing note as they lost to Great Britain in a close-fought contest in the bronze medal match. However, it's worth noting that the Tokyo Olympics was historic in many ways for the Women in Blue. They made it to their first-ever Olympic semifinals when they beat Australia 1-0 in the quarter-final. Unfortunately, the girls could not progress to the finals as they were handed a defeat by the Argentine team. But that game was also closely fought. Also, they finished in 4th position for the first time since 1980. So, India may not have won their maiden Olympic medal yet but this remarkable performance will do for now.

The Indian fans also agreed to the fact and flooded Twitter with comments lauding the team. Indian celebrities also did not hold back and reacted to India's performance. Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan, who starred in movie 'Chak De India', tweeted in support of the team and reckoned India's performance as inspiring. The former chief coach of the Indian hockey team, Sjoerd Marijne, could not stop himself from reacting to this tweet from Khan. In the process, he even demanded for 'Chak De India' part 2. Check out his reply to Shah Rukh Khan here:

Marijne had reminded Shah Rukh about the real coach

A few days back, Sjoerd Marijne had jokingly reminded Shah Rukh about who the real coach was. Khan had replied to Marijne's post in which the latter had shared a picture with the team and captioned it, “Sorry family, I coming again later.” To which, Khan had replied, “Haan haan no problem. Just bring some Gold on your way back...for a billion family members...From Ex-coach Kabir Khan.” This thread was taken further by Marijne as he replied to Khan, “Thank you for all the support and love. We will give everything again. From: The Real coach.”

Marijne also thanked everyone for their support after India's defeat in the bronze medal match. “We did not win a medal, but I think we have won something bigger,” he tweeted.
