The country suffered a major blow on Tuesday evening as renowned Bollywood singer and composer Krishnakumar Kunnath, popularly known as KK, passed away in Kolkata. The 53-year-old was reportedly performing at a college fest in Kolkata when he fell ill after the concert and was declared brought dead by the doctors at CMRI hospital.

KK has been a legend of India's music industry for over the last three decades and has given some of the biggest hits. KK's popular songs and biggest hits include songs like "Tadap Tadap" from Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, "Dola Re Dola" from Devdas, "Kya Mujhe Pyaar Hai" from Woh Lamhe, "Tu Hi Meri Shab Hai" from Gangster, "Aankhon Mein Teri" from Om Shanti Om, "Khuda Jane" from Bachna Ae Haseeno, and "Tu Jo Mila" from Bajrangi Bhaijaan, among others. He has multiple songs to his credit from the films Main Hoon Na, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Life in a… Metro, Crook and Kites, all of which were musical hits.

He was said to be greatly influenced by the singer Kishore Kumar and music director RD Burman. Following the shocking demise of the famous singer, the cricket fraternity was quick to express their condolences, and heartfelt messages started pouring in from all quarters on social media. Several prominent cricketers, including Anil Kumble, Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, VVS Laxman, Suresh Raina, Harbhajan Singh took to Twitter to express grief and offer condolences to the singer's family.
