One of the Indian cricketers, who is part of the Test squad in the ongoing tour of England, has tested positive for COVID-19 during the 20-day break. The player, whose identity has not been revealed yet, will not travel with the team to Durham on Thursday and is set to miss the practice match. The squad is to reassemble at Durham in a bio-bubble ahead of the Test series against England starting in August.

"Yes, one of the players has tested positive although he is largely asymptomatic currently. He is in quarantine at an acquaintance's place and won't be travelling with the team to Durham on Thursday," a BCCI source confirmed.

India are set to play a three-day warm-up match starting July 20 against a County Select XI at Chester-le-Street in Durham.

Reportedly one more player had tested positive but has now recovered and has even returned negative. A source confirmed both the players were asymptomatic and are currently in isolation.

“Luckily, there is nothing to worry as one of the players has already returned negative since testing positive, the other player will be tested on Sunday and is currently in isolation. He is asymptomatic as well and we are confident that he can join the camp soon after negative reports,” the source said.

The Indian team is scheduled to play five-match Test series against England starting August 4.
