Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL) along with NODWIN Gaming, South Asia’s leading esports company, announced the launch of eISL, India’s premier competitive FIFA 22 League. With this, Indian Super League becomes the country’s first major sports league to enter competitive gaming. eISL will give a platform to the young football fans in India to engage in online gaming, which has gained prominence in the last few years.

With this, EA Sports FIFA Global series has made way in the Indian subcontinent, as eISL will be the official qualifying event from India for the EA Sports FIFA 22 Global series playoffs.

All you need to know about eISL

The first edition of eISL, is set to take place alongside the 2021-22 season of the Indian Super League, starting November 19. The tournament will feature 11 male and 11 female esports athletes who’ll represent the 11 ISL clubs. The winner will be determined by a total of 117 matches, with the finals of the tournament taking place on March 20, 2022 with a prize pool of 74 lakhs and an additional 4 lakhs for the season MVP. The clubs will play round-robin matches and the top 4 teams will qualify for the grand finals, where they’ll be playing a double-elimination format to finally determine the winner. NODWIN Gaming will be tournament organizer for eISL 2021-22 season.

Players can register for the tournament on the ESL Play platform or from their PlayStation in the events section. The minimum age required to register for the tournament is 16.

Emphasizing on fan engagement and highlighting upon the growing online gaming landscape in India, FSDL’s CEO mentioned that eISL will be an exciting platform to engage the youth of the country.

"eISL is an exciting platform and we are confident that it will lead the evolution of fan engagement and contribute significantly to boost the sport’s popularity in the country,” mentioned FSDL CEO Martin Bain.
