Royal Challengers Bangalore remains the only unbeaten team in the 2021 edition of the IPL. Virat Kohli’s men are off to a dream start, winning all their four matches while Chennai Super Kings have tasted defeat only once in four matches. This is a crucial match for both the teams as the winner will be guaranteed the top-spot.
Aussie pacer Kane Richardson played in the last match in place of Rajat Patidar. It is hard to imagine RCB will make any changes to their line-up after their thumping victory over RR. Though Rajat Patidar or Mohammad Azharuddeen could come into the team.
Chennai have a settled team at the moment and they will rely on their all-round combination to come good once again. Moeen Ali, Ravindra Jadeja, Sam Curran and Shardul Thakur will play a crucial role with both bat and ball.
Opener Devdutt Padikkal smashed his maiden IPL century against the Rajasthan Royals at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday. The stylish southpaw launched six sixes and 11 fours. He was well supported by skipper Virat Kohli, who slammed 72 runs off 47 balls and remained unbeaten. Both the players will be key picks in the fantasy teams.
If the RCB top-order fires again and gets good support from in-form AB de Villiers and Glenn Maxwell. it will be hard for CSK bowlers to restrict the flow of runs. CSK fans would definitely be expecting more from skipper MS Dhoni and hope that he showcases his match-winning abilities with a big knock here.
Jadeja, Dhoni and Sam Curran are likely to slot into the middle-order and will carry the responsibility of holding it together and also score runs at a fast pace. Their performance will be critical if Chennai are to emerge victorious on Wednesday. In the bowling department, Harshal Patel and Deepak Chahar are must-picks as they have been phenomenal so far.
Both these teams are evenly matched and would be banking on their stars to turn up for this pivotal clash. With the pitches favoring the batsmen slightly, the best captain and vice-captain choices for this match will be Devdutt Padikkal, Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Faf du Plessis, Suresh Raina, Moeen Ali and AB de Villiers.
