In match number 23 of the ongoing Indian T20 League, Chennai lock horns with Hyderabad. This will be the first game in the slow and sluggish Delhi wicket and spin will play a huge role in the game. The two sides have been on the opposite spectrums in this tournament so far. While Chennai are at the top, Hyderabad languish at the bottom of the points table.

Team News

Bhuvneshwar Kumar missed out on the previous game because of a thigh strain injury. If he returns, then he could replace Khaleel Ahmed. Hyderabad are also likely to replace Virat Singh with either Manish Pandey or Priyam Garg.

Chennai look a balanced and settled side and are not likely to make any changes except one. Moeen Ali had missed out on the previous game due to a niggle. Imran Tahir had replaced him. If Moeen is fit then he would replace Tahir because of his form and all-around abilities.

Analysis:

Chennai have been on a roll in this tournament so far after their first game loss at the hands of Delhi. Dhoni with all his astute leadership skills has brought out the best in people. Ravindra Jadeja will be a marquee player of this game as he can contribute with the bat and with the ball. In the last game, he scored 62 runs in just 28 deliveries, which also included 37 runs off the final over. He spun a web while bowling and also picked up 3 wickets. Faf Du Plessis scored a fifty in the last game and will be another important player.

Hyderabad will have to go through a major transition if they are to stand a chance in qualifying for this year’s playoffs. They are coming on the back of a close super over loss at the hands of Delhi. The middle-order has been shaky and has failed to deliver in spite of good starts from the top order. In this game, Manish Pandey should ideally replace an out-of-form Virat Singh. Siddharth Kaul will be a key player in this game as he had picked up 2 wickets in Hyderabad’s last game.
