Preview:

In the first match of the first double-header of the UAE leg of IPL 2021, it will be Delhi up against Rajasthan. While a look at the points table suggests that there is a gulf between both the teams, the manner in which Rajasthan stole a win over Punjab in their previous match, the mood in their camp would convince them to believe that they can beat any opposition on a given day. Having said that, Delhi are seemingly assured of themselves which they showed in how they clinically finished the chase against Hyderabad. Moreover, it is the Delhi bowlers who are their real strength suggesting it could be a battle between the Delhi bowlers and Rajasthan batters.

Delhi batters aren't too far back in the race from their bowlers in terms of consistency. In fact, both their openers are among the leading run-scorers list and Shreyas Iyer also remained unbeaten in his comeback innings to make sure that they cross the line, meaning some solidity in the middle order. The onus then would be on the Rajasthan senior batters since when they score as per their potential, the team would look all the more strong.

People's Pick:

Analysis:

For Rajasthan, the bulk of scoring has to be done from Yashasvi Jaiswal, Evin Lewis and Sanju Samson. While Jaiswal and Lewis did get off to a start in the match against Punjab, Samson was out cheaply. At least one of them needs to bat deep to help them post a match-winning total. Mahipal Lomror's 17-ball 43 did help them post a solid total, there were in the end short of what it seemed they would end up achieving at one stage simply because there was no set batter standing till the end.

Delhi covered more or less all their bases and their only reason to worry would be Marcus Stoinis fitness. If he is unable to regain fitness, Tom Curran may get a chance in his place.

Dafabet Prediction of the Game:

Head to head: Overall 23 matches have been played between these sides with Delhi winning 11 of these matches. The remaining 12 have been won by Rajasthan which means that it has been a pretty even-steven rivalry.

Recent form: In their most recent meet at the Wankhede Stadium in April this year, it was the Rajasthan side who had registered a win by 3 wickets and 2 balls to spare but a lot has happened since then and especially with the inclusion of Shreyas Iyer, Delhi is looking the stronger team.

UAE factor: The UAE factor, however, tilts the balance further in favour of Delhi. The two teams have come up against each other twice and on both the occasions it is the Delhi team that has emerged victorious.
