Preview:

Sunrisers Hyderabad take on Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday (April 11). It will be the opening game for both the sides in IPL 2021. While Hyderabad had lost to Delhi Capitals in the second qualifier of the previous edition, Kolkata had failed to even qualify for the playoffs.

The new season gives both the teams a chance to win the trophy yet again. On paper, both the sides are equally good.

Pitch Report:

Team News

Hyderabad:

The side have replaced Mitchell Marsh with Jason Roy after the former pulled out of the 14th edition of the tournament citing personal reasons. However, SRH still have a formidable batting unit, specially at the top-order that contains big guns like Jonny Bairstow, David Warner and Kane Williamson.

Despite all, bowling has always been one of the biggest strengths for the side. A lot of hopes will be there from Jason Holder who had replaced Marsh in the previous edition post the former’s injury and made his contribution count with 14 wickets in just 7 games.

Kolkata:

Following a lot of debates on KKR's captaincy, Eoin Morgan had eventually taken the responsibility after Dinesh Karthik had stepped down from the post in the previous edition. The new edition, with Morgan leading the side, might see KKR lift their third IPL trophy.

However, before the dream comes true, the side has a lot of things to sort out. Batting position of Sunil Narine will again be a tough call to make for the two-time champions and Russell’s fitness and form will also be among huge deciding factors for KKR’s fate this season.
