Preview:

It is the last match of the round-robin stage of the Indian T20 League and yet the fourth team to qualify for the Playoffs is not yet decided. It all rests on this match though. It has all come down to this. Match number 55 of the 56 league games - travel, training, playing in the heat, winning, losing and all the drama later - Mumbai's last chance to keep alive their dream of a hat-trick of titles will depend on whether they manage to beat Hyderabad in this fixture. Of course, the equation will vary depending on what happens in the Kolkata vs Rajasthan match on Thursday, since if Kolkata wins, only a miraculous effort would help the Rohit Sharma-led side be the fourth team to reach the playoffs. A win and nothing else will be in the minds of the Mumbai dugout when they step out on the field.

For Hyderabad though, there were a lot of positives with their win over Bangalore. Although, it came a bit too late for this season but will take a lot of confidence. They will try and upset Mumbai again after having shattered Bangalore's dream of a top-two finish already and counting them out will be a risky thing to do even if they have managed 6 points from 13 matches. For what is T20 cricket if not for a package full of surprises.

Analysis:

Mumbai had a near-perfect match against Rajasthan and would want to replicate a similar kind of performance in the match against Hyderabad. Not only did their out of form batter Ishan Kishan finally got some runs under his belt at the top of the order but everyone chipped in the bowling unit. Both Kishan and James Neesham are likely to retain their place in the XI especially when Quinton de Kock wasn't quite performing as per his reputation and Krunal Pandya was also having an ordinary season. The five-time champions would hope they dominate this match too and storm into the Playoffs where their experience is set to separate them from the rest.

For Hyderabad too, it is yet again an opportunity for youngsters to make it count. Abhishek Sharma opened the innings for Hyderabad in this match and after a few delightful strokes, he threw it away. Similarly, Priyam Garg, Abdul Samad are all likely to get one more go and if they make it count against a champion team like Mumbai, it will be a huge boost not only for their confidence but perhaps to their careers as well with two more teams set to come in come IPL 2022.

Dafa Bet Prediction of the Game:

Head to head record: The overall Indian T20 League head to head record between the two sides suggests a tight battle between the two teams. In 17 matches between the teams, Mumbai have clinched 9 matches while Hyderabad registered wins in the remaining 8.

Performance in the ongoing UAE leg: As far as performance in the ongoing season is concerned, while Mumbai haven't played their best cricket, they have clearly been better than Hyderabad. The Orange Army has won just three matches in their 13 but are coming on the back of a win. Mumbai, too dominated Rajasthan in their last fixture.

Recent form: Mumbai might have a slight advantage, especially with a return to form of Ishan Kishan. Moreover, their bowling unit looks all the more threatening with the inclusion of Nathan Coulter Nile and it will be quite a test for Hyderabad batters especially if Kane Williamson and Jason Roy depart early. Coulter Nile was the player of the match in his previous match.
